MSM
- MSM
is a naturally-occurring nutrient, a sulfur compound and
is present in all living things. It is also one of the
most prominent compounds in our bodies and is required
for healthy joint function and connective tissue.
MSM
as a supplement may be beneficial in many ways to our
health.
L-Valine
- termed a 'branched chain' amino acid, L-Valine and
other amino acids are considered critical to glucose
metabolism, protein synthesis, and regulation of the
immune system.
There
is evidence that L-Valine may benefit exercise
endurance, muscular strength, and recovery time after
physical activity.
It
is needed for muscle metabolism, tissue repair, and for
the maintenance of proper nitrogen balance in the body.
It
cannot be produced by the body, it must be ingested in
food form or supplement form.
L-Leucine
- An essential branched-chain amino acid important
for hemoglobin formation. Leucine may be the major fuel
involved in anabolic (tissue-building) reactions, and is
important in the storage of proteins in the body. This
makes it a common addition in body-building supplements
and is used widely by other athletes in sports that
demand explosive strength.
Studies
conducted on people with alcoholic cirrhosis show a
benefit when consuming L-valine, L-leucine, and
L-isoleucine, as they appear to enhance protein
synthesis in liver cells and muscle cells and help
restore liver function and may help prevent chronic
encephalopathy.
The
essential amino acids are found in most anti aging
supplements and provide reported benefits to immune
system function.
Isoleucine
-
a member of the aliphatic side-chain amino acid family
and composed of hydrophobic biochemicals that are found
in the interior of proteins and enzymes.
Other
members of this family of amino acids include valine and
leucine.
Isoleucine
is found abundantly in meats, cheese, fish, seeds and
nuts and eggs and is concentrated into the muscle
tissues by the human body.
GABA
- is a potent amino acid and is considered a
anearuotransmitter, helping nerve impulses cross the
synaptic gap.
Schizandra
Extract - considered an adaptogen, Schizandra and in
Asia, Schizandra is taken as a immune system booster and
to help balance body function.
PABA
- Para-aminobenzoic
acid (PABA) is a compound many consider part of the B
vitamin group, and has been taken for it's reported
ability to enhance the effects of cortisone.
Licorice
- Licorice has a variety of active ingredients that
make it a desirable substance to be taken in supplement
form. Licorice contains glycyrrhizin which has been said
to possess anti-inflammatory,
antiviral and estrogen-like properties.
Licorice is often taken for the treatment of ulcers, heartburn
and mouth sores and in the treatment of asthma, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Southern
Bayberry - commonly
taken to increase circulation.
Kelp
- nutritional vegetable taken from the sea, Kelp provides iodine, which is
one of the few minerals designated as essential. Many people, particularly
dieters, are on low sodium diets to reduce fat and lower blood pressure. In
reducing sodium intake we may also be depriving our body of iodine - an
essential mineral.
